With joy we meditate the grace
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →A hymn by Isaac Watts meditating on Christ as the sympathetic High Priest who, though sinless, fully understands human weakness and temptation through His own earthly experience.
Verse 1
With joy we meditate the grace
Of our High Priest above;
His heart o'erflows with tenderness,
His very name is Love.
Verse 2
Touched with a sympathy within
He knows our feeble frame;
He knows what sore temptations are
For He endured the same.
Verse 3
But spotless, innocent, and pure
Our great Redeemer stood;
No stain of sin did e'er defile
The holy Lamb of God.
Verse 4
He, when He sojourned here below,
Poured forth His cries and tears;
And, though exalted, feels afresh
What every member bears.
Verse 5
Then boldly let our faith address
His mercy and His power;
We shall obtain delivering grace
In each distressing hour.
