Song Slides turns hymn and worship-song lyrics into ready-to-project slides in seconds. Here are the questions we hear most often. Still stuck? Get in touch and we'll help.

Is Song Slides free?

Yes. Song Slides is completely free and open source (MIT). The slide maker and the built-in hymn library cost nothing to use — no signup, no watermarks, no download limits, and no ads.

Do I need to create an account or sign up?

No. There is no account, no signup, and no login. You open the site, pick a hymn or paste your own lyrics, and download your slides — nothing stands between you and your slides.

How fast is it to make slides?

Most people have finished slides in under a minute. You pick a hymn from the hymn library or paste your own lyrics, choose an optional background, and Song Slides lays the words out across slides for you — including longer songs that span multiple slides — in a single download. There is no copying text or resizing text boxes.

Which hymnals are included?

Song Slides ships with 800+ public-domain hymns drawn from hymnals including The United Methodist Hymnal, The Open Hymnal, Gospel Hymns & Songs, and The Faith We Sing. You can browse the whole hymn library, explore themed collections (Advent, communion, funeral, praise & worship), or browse by author.

Can I paste my own song lyrics?

Yes. Alongside the built-in library, you can paste your own lyrics directly. Song Slides also imports ChordPro, plain text, and OpenSong / OpenLyrics XML files, and it strips out chords automatically so only the lyrics land on your slides.

Can I use the slides in PowerPoint, Google Slides, or ProPresenter?

Yes. Song Slides exports PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF, and images (.zip). A .pptx is a standard PowerPoint file, so it opens directly in Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, and Google Slides, and imports into ProPresenter and most other worship presentation software.

What about copyright and licensing for the lyrics?

The built-in hymn library is public-domain only, so those hymns are free to project and reproduce. If you paste or import your own lyrics, you are responsible for the licensing of any copyrighted song — for example, your church's CCLI license. Song Slides does not store the lyrics you paste or import.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Song Slides runs in any modern web browser, including on phones and tablets. You can pick a hymn and download finished slides right from your phone — handy for putting a service together on the go.

Are there watermarks or download limits?

No. Slides come with no watermarks and no branding from us, and there is no limit on how many you can create or download. What you generate is yours to use in worship.

Is there a catch — how is Song Slides free?

No catch. Song Slides is free and open source (MIT), and we don't run ads. If it saves your team time, you can support the project on Ko-fi — but that's entirely optional.
