"Praise ye the Lord!" again, again
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →A 19th-century hymn by Plymouth Brethren writer Mary Bowly Peters (1813–1856), in which the Spirit's repeated promptings call believers to praise, rejoice in Christ, and stand firm in Him alone.
Verse 1
"Praise ye the Lord!" again, again,
The Spirit strikes the chord;
Nor toucheth He our hearts in vain;
We praise, we praise the Lord.
Verse 2
"Rejoice in Him!" again, again,
The Spirit speaks the word;
And faith takes up the happy strain
Our joy is in the Lord.
Verse 3
"Stand fast in Christ!" ah! yet again
He teaches all the band;
Our best endeavours are in vain,
In Christ alone we stand.
Verse 4
"Clean every whit!" Thou saidst it, Lord;
Shall one suspicion lurk?
Thine, surely, is a faithful word,
And Thine a finished work.
Verse 5
For ever be the glory given
To Thee, O Lamb of God!
No joy for us, in earth or heaven,
We owe not to Thy blood.
