Our times are in Thy hand;
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →A hymn by William Freeman Lloyd (1791–1853) expressing calm trust in God's sovereign control over every season of life, drawn from Psalm 31:15. It reassures believers that God's guiding hand orders all circumstances — pleasing or painful — for their good and never causes needless suffering.
Verse 1
Our times are in Thy hand;
Father, we wish them there!
Our life, our souls, our all we leave
Entirely to Thy care.
Verse 2
Our times are in Thy hand,
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.
Verse 3
Our times are in Thy hand;
Why should we doubt or fear?
Our Father's hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.
Verse 4
Our times are in Thy hand,
Jesus the crucified!
The hand our many sins have pierced
Is now our guard and guide.
Verse 5
Our times are in Thy hand,
O Lord, our Advocate!
Nor is that hand outstretched in vain
For us to supplicate.
Verse 6
Our times are in Thy hand;
We'll always trust in Thee,
Till we have left this weary land
And all Thy glory see.
