O Our Saviour, crucified!
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →A devotional hymn by Plymouth Brethren evangelist Robert Cleaver Chapman (1803–1902) meditating on Christ's crucifixion as the supreme revelation of God's love and the depth of human sinfulness.
Verse 1
O Our Saviour, crucified!
Near Thy Cross would we abide,
There to look with steadfast eye
On Thy dying agony.
Verse 2
Jesus bruised and put to shame
Tells us all Jehovah's Name;
God is love, we surely know
By the Saviour's depths of woe.
Verse 3
In His spotless soul's distress
We perceive our guiltiness;
O how vile our low estate
Since our ransom was so great.
Verse 4
Dwelling on Mount Calvary
Contrite shall our spirits be;
Rest and holiness shall find,
Fashioned like our Saviour's mind.
