O Lord! 'tis joy to look above
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →A hymn by Plymouth Brethren writer James George Deck (1841) expressing joy in looking to Christ enthroned in heaven and anticipating His return in glory. It reflects on tracing Christ's humble earthly path and walking in fellowship with God.
Verse 1
O Lord! 'tis joy to look above
And see Thee on the throne;
To search the heights and depths of love
Which Thou to us hast shown
Verse 2
To look beyond the dark, long night
And hail the coming day,
When Thou, to all the saints in light,
Thy glories wilt display.
Verse 3
And O 'tis joy the path to trace
By Thee so meekly trod;
Learning of Thee to walk in grace
And fellowship with God.
Verse 4
Joy to confess Thy blessed Name,
The virtues of Thy blood,
And to the wearied heart proclaim,
Behold the Lamb of God!
