A heaven-longing hymn by Irish hymnist Charitie Lees Smith Bancroft (1841–1923), expressing the believer's yearning for purity, rest, and eternal joy in the presence of Christ. It is characteristic of her devotional 19th-century style, best known from 'Before the Throne of God Above.'

Verse 1

O for robes of whiteness,
O for the tearless eyes;
O for the glorious brightness
Of the unclouded skies!

O for the no more weeping
Within the land of love;
The endless joy of keeping
The bridal feast above.

Verse 2

O for the bliss of flying,
My risen Lord to meet;
O for the rest of lying
For ever at His feet!

O for the hour of seeing
My Saviour face to face;
The hope of ever being
In that sweet meeting-place.

Verse 3

O Christ! Thou King of Glory,
I soon shall dwell with Thee!
I soon shall sing the story
Of Thy great love to me!

Meanwhile my soul would enter
E'en now before Thy throne,
That all my love might centre
On Thee, and Thee alone.
