Now I have found a Friend
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →A personal testimony hymn by Henry J. M. Hope (1852) celebrating the joy and security of friendship with Jesus Christ. It declares that earthly hardships — poverty, loss of friends, even death — cannot diminish the believer's lasting peace and hope in Jesus.
Verse 1
Now I have found a Friend,
Jesus is mine;
His love shall never end,
Jesus is mine;
Though earthly joys decrease,
Though human friendships cease,
Now I have lasting peace,
Jesus is mine.
Verse 2
Though I grow poor and old,
Jesus is mine;
He will my faith uphold,
Jesus is mine;
He will my wants supply,
His precious blood is nigh,
Nought can my hope destroy,
Jesus is mine.
Verse 3
Farewell, mortality!
Jesus is mine;
Welcome, eternity!
Jesus is mine.
He my redemption is,
Wisdom and righteousness,
Life, light, and holiness,
Jesus is mine.
Verse 4
Father! Thy Name I bless,
Jesus is mine;
Thine was the sovereign grace,
Praise shall be Thine;
Spirit of holiness,
Sealing the Father's grace,
He made my soul embrace
Jesus as mine.
