My sins were laid on Jesus
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →Written by Scottish hymn writer Horatius Bonar in 1845, this hymn expresses the believer's personal experience of casting sin, sorrow, and weariness upon Christ and finding full redemption and rest in Him.
Verse 1
My sins were laid on Jesus
The spotless Lamb of God;
He bore them all and freed me
From the accurséd load.
My guilt was borne by Jesus;
He cleansed the crimson stains
In his own blood most precious,
And not a spot remains.
Verse 2
I tell my wants to Jesus,
All fullness dwells in Him;
He healeth my diseases,
He doth my soul redeem.
I lay my griefs on Jesus,
My burdens and my cares;
He from them all releases,
He all my sorrows shares.
Verse 3
I rest my soul on Jesus,
This weary soul of mine;
His right hand me embraces,
I on His breast recline.
I love the Name of Jesus,
Immanuel, Christ the Lord!
Like fragrance on the breezes
His Name is spread abroad.
Verse 4
I long to be like Jesus,
Meek, lowly, loving, mild;
I long to be like Jesus,
The Father's holy child.
I long to be with Jesus
Amid the heavenly throng,
To sing with saints His praises,
The everlasting song.
