A wedding hymn by 18th-century English clergyman John Berridge (1716–1793), invoking Christ's blessing on bride and bridegroom and drawing on the miracle at the wedding feast at Cana. It asks for love, faithfulness, and material and spiritual provision for the couple.

Verse 1

Lord Jesus, who didst once appear
To grace a marriage feast,
We now beseech Thy presence here
To make this wedding blest.

Verse 2

With grace the bride and bridegroom speed;
Thy love their pattern be;
May heart with heart be true indeed,
As knit, O Lord, in Thee.

Verse 3

With gifts of grace their hearts endow
of all rich dowries best;
Their substance bless, and peace bestow,
To sweeten all the rest.

Verse 4

In purest love their souls unite
That they with Christ-like care
May make each other's burdens light
By taking mutual share.

Verse 5

And looking to their heavenly home
O may they dwell each day
As heirs of life till Thou shalt come
To take Thy bride away.
