Lord Jesus we believing
Create PowerPoint slides from this hymn →A hymn by Plymouth Brethren biblical scholar Samuel Prideaux Tregelles (1813–1875) meditating on the believer's security in Christ—peace with God, eternal life purchased by His blood, and full acceptance before the Father. The text draws closely on Pauline atonement theology, including the substitutionary curse-bearing of Christ and sanctification by the Spirit.
Verse 1
Lord Jesus we believing
In Thee have peace with God,
Eternal life receiving,
The purchase of Thy blood.
Our curse and condemnation
Thou bearest in our stead;
Secure is our salvation
In Thee, our risen Head.
Verse 2
The Holy Ghost revealing
Thy grace hath given us rest;
Thy stripes have given us healing,
Thy love doth make us blest.
In Thee the Father sees us
Accepted and complete;
Thy blood, from sin which frees us,
For glory makes us meet.
