A German Pietist hymn by Count Zinzendorf, translated by John Wesley, celebrating Christ as the believer's righteousness and the ground of confident standing before God on the Day of Judgment. It draws on Pauline justification theology — the redeemed are clothed in Christ's righteousness and therefore free from condemnation.

Verse 1

Jesus, the Lord our Righteousness!
Our beauty Thou, our glorious dress;
'Midst flaming worlds, whilst thus arrayed,
With joy shall we lift up our head.

Verse 2

Bold shall we stand in that great day,
For who aught to our charge shall lay?
While by Thy blood absolved we are
From sin's tremendous curse and fear.

Verse 3

Thus Abraham, the friend of God,
Thus all the saints redeemed by blood,
Saviour of sinners Thee proclaim,
And all their boast is in Thy Name.

Verse 4

Till we behold Thee on Thy throne,
In Thee we boast, in Thee alone;
Our beauty this, our glorious dress,
Jesus, the Lord our Righteousness.
